Looking Back

January 8, 2009

The new year usually brings up memories of years past and resolutions for the coming year. I’m (N.) not really into New Year’s resolutions but I do like taking a moment to remember the trials and triumphs we have successfully weathered and the good times we have had. So I give you 2008 in photos.

In January we got to see some of the most amazing snow sculptures.

In February we made our own soap and shaving cream for the first time.

In March we started our first garden.

In April my fabulous step mom and sister threw us an engagement party and J. got to visit Philly for the first time.

In May J. held my hand as I started searching for a job outside of the Army.

In June we harvested our first beans.

In July we got married.

In August we got to visit Ottawa.

In September J. got me a fancy flash for my birthday and we promptly took it out to play.

In October we planted garlic (we ordered far too much!) for the first time.

In Novemeber we celebrated Thanksgiving with local, organic fare.

In December J.’s parents came to visit and we took them out to see the mosaics and murals that Philly is known for.

How did that homemade shaving soap turn out? This year we’re focusing detoxing our personal care routines and we’re hoping to make some of our own products.

Hopefully all that garlic does well. It will keep you healthy in 2009!

We really liked it! J. did need to purchase a shaving brush to get a good lather going but it didn’t cost a lot and it will last a long time. I just used my hands and it worked great. When we made it we stored half in the fridge until we needed to use it.
